I've
been to mainstream gyms before. I always knew that I wasn't doing
the exercises properly, and I wasted plenty of time standing
around, or doing exercises that weren't beneficial for me. After
training at Studio Glo with a personal trainer, I am noticing
results that I never got when exercising alone.
I have
been training with Liz now for about 8 months now, and I almost
look forward to my training. I say this because personal training
is not something that sits naturally with me. I am not adverse to
exercise that comes with everyday life, like walking, cycling or
playing sport, but I have never responded well to structured
exercise such as in a gym. All the clunking machines and smelly
rubber, and being stuck inside! Not my thing. And the treadmill!
That someone once went to the trouble to invent an electrically
powered machine to make people run faster whilst going nowhere is
beyond me! I told Liz all this at the start and I could tell that
with her experience it was only a minor challenge for her to tailor
an interesting program for me.
So now
I do most of my training without machines. I do my warm-up walk
outdoors, we do little sprints and I use steps and balls a lot.
Even better – she’s shown me how to do proper, vigorous workouts
with no devices, like lunges, squats and push-ups. And even without
all the dependence on work-out machines, I’ve noticed physical
results as good as ever. Deep down I know that structured exercise
is good for me, but I have never really enjoyed it. The best thing
Liz has done for me is to show me the bright side of training.
Whether it was challenging for her to do that I don’t know, but
sometimes it’s difficult for me to see, especially when I’m 8 reps
into my third set of one minute push-ups then one minute skipping
then one minute of lunges. So – thank you, Liz.
