So,
three years on I am fitter than I have ever been, have entered the
15.2km Run for the Kids, 8km Mothers Day Challenge, 10km Run to the
G and finished all these events.
The
next challenge is the 100km Oxfam Walk in April 2008, with
Christine, Chris and Suzanne.
I think
back to when I first started at Studio Glo, having to run on the
treadmill if the speed was put up to 7kms, or thinking I would
collapse when I had to skip for 1 minute. The present couldn’t be
so different – 2 training sessions a week, boxacise, yoga, and
walking everyday – and with hindsight wishing I had started this
exercise regime thirty years ago.
All I
know is I couldn’t have achieved this level of fitness without
Kylie and the team at Studio Glo.
I could
have joined a gym, but wouldn’t have gone. But when you make a
commitment to yourself, and an appointment with someone who is
willing to help you, you have to keep that appointment, as you
don’t want to let yourself or them down.
The two
things I have learned from my training is that there is no such
thing as a quick fix, or a diet. It has to be a holistic approach
to your lifestyle – food, exercise and attitude, and that I will
never revert to my earlier fat and frumpy life – I love the way I
am now too much for this to happen!
