Personal Trainer!!!!! Who do you think you are – Carl
Lewis?????
This
was my response to my wife Marie, when she informed me about her
plans to start seeing a personal trainer. She had been attending a
gym for some time, but felt she needed more motivation and needed
to acquire the correct technique. This is when she met Liz, struck
up a rapport, and became one of her clients.
However, after
training with Liz for some time, she persuaded me, the original
couch potato, to come along and see how I’d go.
For the
first 3-4 months we saw Liz for one session per week for one
hour and it was horrendous for me. Liz, knowing my severe
limitations designed a training program, to slowly improve my
capacity. I felt at the same time that she enjoyed seeing me suffer
a little at the beginning and seeing me suffer more as time
progressed. I know now that I was wrong, she didn’t enjoy it, she
was absolutely delighted by it!
My wife
then talked me into 2 one hour sessions per week, which is what we
have been doing for the last 2 years.
Liz has
constantly changed our programs, monitored the intensity, and
always takes into account if we have any aliments, muscle soreness,
or the like. She designs a course of exercise to accommodate all of
these problems.
Liz has
a pleasant personality when things are going her way, but BOY can
she develop the dark side, and transfer this to her training
program!
Seriously, Liz takes a
great deal of pride in her preparation of programs for her clients.
So when my wife and I decided to climb Mt Kilamanjaro, we told Liz
and our exercise regime changed immediately to accommodate this
project.
We had
misgivings upon seeing the mountain, wondering why were there, and
what made us think we could climb it, but the training that Liz has
given us, had prepared us beautifully, and we had no trouble
accomplishing the climb.
Liz has
prepared others for the Kokoda Track walk, and all have reported
that her training programs were essential requirement for their
efforts to be successful.
My wife
loves going to the gym, and training with Liz, but I haven’t been
able to achieve that same state of euphoria. I do not look forward
to training with Liz, but I’m eternally grateful after each
training session that I have done so.
At
times in your life, you reflect upon what fate has dealt you, or
some decisions you have made. Our decision to become clients of
Liz, is one of the best decisions we have ever made, not knowing at
the time that Liz is one of the best trainers available.
